Element 3D is a plugin developed by Video copilot for Adobe After Effects CS3 and Above, it uses a Videocard’s openGL engine to display 3D models with plenty of polygons within After Effects, giving you the option of pivoting around an existing object, using the built in Motion Blur or Depth of Field etc.
You can also texture within After Effects, use Normal maps, specular maps, reflections and enviroment HDRI’s to give your object its corresponding surface and unique texture, just keep in mind that bigger texture sizes give better results, BUT, they can hog your computer for a little bit longer.

On top of having this great extended functionality, Element 3D is also a complete Particle System which means you can duplicate “Clones” of your existing 3D object, you can animate that duplication , affect it randomly or by indexed ratio, and create all sorts of neat tricks using this outstanding plugin.

Element 3D is also capable of “Sub groups” which give you the possibility of grouping / organizing your object within your favorite 3D package and then animating those groups separately within after effects. There are plenty of exciting more features to explore with element, and for the price its selling for at $149.99 its the cheapest 3D solution out there you could practically say it’s almost as if you get Element 3D plugin free of charge.
